What tire size should you choose when lifting a Club car Precedent/Tempo/Onward

Posted by Golf Cart Gurus on

Selecting the correct tire size when lifting any golf cart is specially important when there are many different size lift kits to choose from:

To Begin, there are 3 different types of lift kits that will fit on your Club car Precedent/Tempo/Onward:

  • Spindle Lift
  • A arm lift kit
  • Long Travel lift kit

Spindle lift kits are the easiest to install, you are just replacing the spindle on each side in the front, and in the rear you will add blocks and remove the leaf spring from under the axle and install it on top

A Arm lift kits take 1-2 hours longer than the spindle as you have to remove most of the front end components, but the rear is the same process as the spindle kits above.

Long Travel lift kits are a much more extensive install and you have to remove ALL of the front end components, including the steering rack, and take it all the way down to the frame.  But by doing so, you will achieve the best ride.

Pros and Cons

Spindle

Pros
  1. Lower Cost and easier install (1-2 hour install)
Cons
  1. You can only adjust the toe in/out. You cant not adjust the camber (so this will wear your tires our unevenly over time)

A-Arm Lifts

Pros

  1. Full Adjustment with Toe in/out and camber adjustment
  2. When installing A arm you replace all prior bushings ("so this rebuilds the front end")
  3. Better Ride than spindle lifts

Cons

  1. Normally A higher Cost (when comparing 2 quality lift kits)
  2. Long install Time (on average it will take 2-4 hour install)

Long Travel

Pros

  1. Best Ride for any lift cart
  2. Full Adjustment in Height (6-10 inches)
  3. Fully Adjustable Shock Comfort
